Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

Upgraded Kid to Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS.
Tried Unity, too slow.  Back to Xfce.
Network interface insisted on configuring IPv6 and no IPv4.  Unfortunately my oldish router doesn't seem to handled this very well.  Tried removing and adding the IF back with an IPv6 config disabled and IPv4(DHCP) enabled.  Works then, will see if it stays after a reboot.

Upgrading Office computer IV

This is the new target upgrade: 11.10
About two hours to go, plus the pausing for questions and such.
So far so good.
Rebooting into 11.04 went fine (after the mandatory fsck though).
XFCE config has changed, I had to re-add some gadget into the bar as it started with an empty/standard one.
I also have a XFCE panel on the bottom in this version.

update on office computer, part III

OK with Karmic Koala, then upgraded to 10.10 Maverick.
After reboot, now upgrading to 11.04.
Phew !

Karmic went fine, now upgrading to 10.10.

upgrading office computer, 2012 version

Had to remove the iscan 3rd party package before upgrade---It was bought with Vista :-|
Still running Jaunty until yesterday, long time out of support.
Finally found the EOLupgrades page to help me upgrade to Karmic.

From there using the normal procedure to go to Lucid 10.04 LTS.

Upgrading the Upgraded Kid

After 10.x was applied on Kid things were working after I removed the Nvidia and put the old CRT on the built-in VGA board. Crappy display but I immediately upgraded to 11.04 that was just out.
When 11.04 was up and running I swapped video card and screens again and lo and behold - it works.
I'm still having issues with suspend/resume though. Will have to disable that for now.

Upgrade from 9.04 to 10.04 then 10.10 on kid PC

Upgraded to 10.04: no problem but as previously, out of the box it doesn't work with the Nvidia Geforce2 MX200 that's plugged in. Couldn't find the way to enter safe mode so I removed the Nvidia card and plugged my old CRT monitor to the internal VGA port. Reboot: OK, I've got a screen to use the system at least.

So I'm now running the 10.04 to 10.10 upgrade.
